The Senior Citizen Exemption provides tax relief by reducing the equalized valuation of an eligible residence. This savings is in the form of a deduction on the second-installment of the real estate tax bill. - Senior Citizen Freeze Exemption
The Senior Freeze Exemption allows qualified senior citizens to apply for a freeze of the equalized assessed value (EAV) of their properties for the year preceding the year in which the applicant first qualifies and applies for this exemption. - Senior Citizen Liaison
The Cook County Assessor provides a Senior Citizen Liaison in order Increase awareness of tax relief programs for senior citizens, make the exemption application process easier for senior citizen homeowners, and expand the senior citizen community’s understanding of the Assessor’s role in the property tax cycle.

Illinois Circuit Breaker Program
Seniors who pay property taxes or mobile home taxes on a home; or rent or live in a nursing, retirement, or shelter care home that was subject to property taxes, may be able to receive a grant.
